Paper: Putting health facilities in sub-Saharan Africa on the map

We published a(renewed) call to create geolocated, comprehensive, updated, openly licensed dataset of health facilities in sub-Saharan African countries.

- We discuss why the availability of health facilities databases (HFDBs) remains a challenge in SSA and the way forward.

- The lack of progress in curating HFDBs is no longer due to technical issues but due to a lack of financial resources , political will, and coordination needed to create and maintain HFDBs.

- HFDBs will be achievable if there is a regional commitment from countries and health system stakeholders.

- Open data sharing will be key

Launch of the final phase of the Discontinu_Cities project in Greater Conakry, Guinea
Three months (November 1, 2025 – January 31, 2026) after the launch of the pilot phase of the "Discontinu_Cities" project in Greater Conakry, Guinea, another meeting brought together all stakeholders involved in the project's implementation. This session, held from February 5 to 6, 2026, at the CEA-PCMT (host institution), provided an enriching opportunity for exchange and sharing.
